After-Hours AI Voice Receptionist

Calls that land after close go to voicemail, and most callers will not leave one.

An AI receptionist that answers when you cannot — nights, weekends, mid-job. It greets callers with a clear AI disclosure, takes the job details a human would ask for, and texts you the summary before the caller hangs up. Early access; join the waitlist.

How it works

  1. Forward your line when you cannot answer

Keep your number. Send it to us after hours, at weekends, or whenever you are on a job — you choose the windows, and you can change them from your phone.

  2. It answers, discloses that it is AI, and asks what you would ask

The greeting says plainly that the caller has reached an automated assistant, because several states require exactly that and because callers dislike discovering it later. Then it works through your trade’s intake questions rather than taking a message.

  3. You get the job details as a text, before the caller hangs up

Name, number, what they need, whether it sounded urgent, and a full transcript. If it hits something it cannot handle, it says so and escalates rather than guessing.

What a call sounds like

Preview — product in development
CallerHi — my hot water’s gone completely, there’s no heat at all coming through.
BizForceI can help with that. Just so you know, you’re speaking with an automated assistant for Rivet Plumbing. Is there any water leaking right now, or is it only the heat?
CallerNo leak, just no hot water since this morning.
BizForceUnderstood. Is it a tank or a combi boiler, and roughly how old? And can I take the best number to reach you?
Text to your phoneNo hot water, no leak — combi, ~8 yrs. Sarah Whitcombe, 07… . Not an emergency. Logged 21:14.
A scripted example of the intake we are building for a plumbing business. This is an illustration of what is being built, not a recording of a live system.

The questions it asks, published in full

This is the actual script the receptionist works through for a plumbing business. It is published because a generic script is the complaint contractors raise about every tool in this category — it can take a message, but it cannot qualify a job the way you would.

  1. Is there water escaping right now? (Escalates immediately if yes.)
  2. Is there any gas smell? (Escalates immediately, and tells the caller to leave the property.)
  3. Is there heat or hot water at all, or neither?
  4. Tank or combi, and roughly how old is it?
  5. Is the property occupied tonight? Any children or elderly residents?
  6. Address and postcode, and is parking available?
  7. Best number, and are you happy to receive a text?

Escalates immediately on

  • Active water escape
  • Any smell of gas
  • No heat in freezing weather with vulnerable occupants
  • Sewage backing up

Wrong for your trade? Tell us what you would ask — this is the part we most want to get wrong in public and fix before launch.

What it will cost

We have not set a price yet. What we will commit to now: it will not be billed per minute, and a busy week will not double your bill.

Per-minute and per-call pricing is the complaint owners raise most often about this category — a storm rolls through, the phone rings three times as much, and the invoice follows. Metering on something that spikes exactly when you most need the service is the wrong axis.

What it cannot do yet

  • It does not make outbound calls.
  • It does not take payments.
  • It handles English only.
  • It cannot see your calendar until the scheduler service ships, so it takes details rather than booking.

This list shrinks in the build log, which also records what broke.

Frequently asked questions

Will my customers know they are talking to an AI?
Yes — the greeting says so. Several states now require disclosure in a commercial call, one of them within the first thirty seconds, and we would do it regardless. Surveys consistently find people mind being deceived far more than they mind the technology.
What happens when it cannot answer something?
It says it does not know and takes the details for you to call back, rather than improvising. That behaviour is the one we test hardest, because a confident wrong answer to a customer is worse than no answer at all.
Is this better than hiring someone part-time?
For the hours a part-timer works, a person is better. The calculator on this page exists because the honest comparison is not AI against a person — it is cover against voicemail for the roughly 88% of the week when nobody is at the desk.
When can I actually use it?
It is in development and not live. Joining the waitlist puts you in the next cohort we onboard; we cap each cohort deliberately, because a waitlist we cannot service within a month is a list of people who lose interest.

Early access — join the waitlist

We onboard a capped cohort at a time, so the list stays short enough to actually serve. You will hear from us before the next one opens.

Email only — we do not ask for a phone number. One message when we open the next cohort, and nothing else. Unsubscribe in one click.
